About us

What do we do?

Sheffield Community Land Trust (SCLT) is a community-led organisation established to provide genuinely affordable housing and workspaces in Sheffield through community ownership and community-led development. We are aiming to achieve this by delivering projects that bring land and existing buildings into community ownership, and developing these into affordable, high-quality and low carbon; homes, social spaces, cultural spaces and workspaces.

SCLT is democratic member owned organisation underpinned by a non-profit ownership and development model. At the heart of this process we are looking to work with the people of Sheffield and to partner with local organisations to build a mutually supportive community that opposes displacement and protects local interests.

Who are we?

SCLT formed in 2015 as a small group of local people campaigning, holding events, researching and seeking to initiate community-led development and protect valued community assets in Sheffield City Centre. Since establishing as a Community Benefit Society in July 2023, we publicly relaunched in October 2023 and within a year have grown to include over 100 members, many of whom are actively contributing to the CLT and its recent growth and success. Our members make up our organisation, elect the board, and contribute to key decisions about SCLT.

We regularly hold monthly member meetings, public events, workshop sessions for our pilot project and socials which we promote through our mailing list and social media platforms.
