Neighbourhood Futures

We are excited to be part of a new project, Neighbourhood Futures: Community Designers for Climate Action which explores how design enable communities to lead climate action in areas undergoing rapid housing growth.

Over the next three years, the project will explore how design tools can support residents to tackle housing and climate pressures in their neighbourhoods, while building stronger bridges between grassroots action and local and national policy. The project vision is a future where local people directly shape how their neighbourhood grows, adapts, and thrives which strongly aligns with our aims as SCLT.

Neighbourhood Futures will be delivered and managed by the Design Council in partnership with Social Life Practice CIC across four key regions: London, Plymouth, Sheffield, and Glasgow working alongside a network of partners: Pembroke House, Nudge Community Builders, Real Ideas, Sheffield Community Land Trust, New Future and the University of Plymouth.
The funds will help us build and strengthen existing networks in the city to further our goal of community-led development at a range of scales, as well as knowledge sharing and community wealth building.

The project has received funding over three years from the Climate Action Fund, a long-term commitment by The National Lottery Community Fund to support communities across the UK to act on climate change and involve more people in positive environmental action.
